Axcelorate is based in South West Christchurch and covers all of Christchurch and the eastern side of Selwyn District.
Owner/Operator Carolyn Ax is a qualified driving instructor (I Endorsement) and has 25 years driving experience; is a mechanic’s daughter; and has previously worked in the fields of roading engineering, road safety education for children, young drivers and older drivers; and international education. Carolyn has also been actively voluntarily involved in a number of car clubs over the past 20 years.
Carolyn grew up in Palmerston North, and has a love of cars and driving, mostly from her father being a mechanic. She remembers helping her Dad in the garage at home and at his workshop from a very young age, as well as going on many Vintage Car Club outings and days out at Manfeild. She learned to drive at the age of 15 in the family’s Mini, and at 17 had her full licence.
In 2010 Carolyn set up and until 2013 managed a successful learner driver programme in Selwyn district called “Leading Learners” that gained national recognition and was endorsed by NZ motoring icon Chris Amon. It was then that she realised her dream was to become a driving instructor.
In August 2016 Carolyn gained her I Endorsement (driving instructor qualification). She graduated top of her class and was described as a “walking Road Code” by her classmates.
“Thanks for your help, I got the (Restricted) license, delighted."
